We are extremely fortunate to showcase the skills of Edwina Emery, one of the top modellers in the U.K. Her work is soundly based on an extensive knowledge of her subject and upon informed observation. In portrait sculptures, close contact with the subject, compiled with meticulous attention to detail form the basis of each sculpture.
Her outstanding ability to define the character and capture the elusive life and likeness is the result of an inflexible rule of working from life.
She has produced a number of superb sculptures of some of our clients’ pets in a variety of sizes. All these are cast in silver or bronze and then given a variety of treatments or patinas, which produce the wide range of colours illustrated. For example, with sterling silver, a process of oxidisation can result in a most dramatic darker tone, as seen in the group of four Arab Colts.
A member of the R.B.S., her craftsmanship has also been recognised by the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths who have elected her a Freeman.
